About Our Name

The resplendent quetzal is a Central American bird famous for its iridescent red and green coloring and long tail feathers. To the ancient Mayas the quetzal was sacred, symbolizing freedom and wealth. They considered the quetzal's emerald green iridescent tail feathers to be more valuable than gold. Thus, it is a fitting symbol of our company’s rich Mayan heritage and luxurious chocolates.
